On October 25, 2014, I was one of fifteen inducted into the Society of Janus Hall of Fame on the occasion of their 40th anniversary. It was a members-only event held at the SF Armory's Upper Floor. SOJ is a not-for-profit, all volunteer, San Francisco-based education and support organization devoted to the art of safe, consensual and non-exploitative BDSM. Check out their site HERE. Angela presided and gave me my Certificate! Left to right are Jay Wiseman, Jim Ward, Guy Baldwin, Fakir Musafar, me, Cléo Dubois, Race Bannon, Charles Moser and Sybil Holiday. Earlier this summer, I was given an Acker Award, a tribute given to members of the avant garde arts community who have made outstanding contributions in their discipline in defiance of convention. The award is named after novelist Kathy Acker who in her life and work exemplified the risk-taking and uncompromising dedication that identifies the true avant garde artist. There was no formal presentation this year. Check out their site HERE for those in SF. ( I'm, of course, in the "Photography" category.) From that url, you can navigate through the site. These new awards complement my Venus Award from SF's Good Vibrations, in 1997, and being named a Master of Erotic Art by the Seattle Erotic Art Festival, in 2012! ***** |
